| Welcome to the Woodlawn Ruritan Club Home Page |
The Next Exciting Event is the Spring Bazaar!
Due to the fact that the Ruritan Club is no longer allowed to cook in the school cafeteria, the bazaar has been moved to the VFW in Hillsville, VA.
This is a sad day when the school is no longer available for use by a community organization as beneficial as the Ruritan Club. The school has a long-standing relationship with the Ruritan Club that goes back over 30 years. That relationship is now severed.
We appreciate the VFW welcoming this event in their building.
Woodlawn Ruritans Install New Officers at Christmas Dinner for 2010
The Woodlawn Ruritan Club had their Christmas dinner at Shoney's on December 8, 2009.
District Governor, Pat Davis, installed the new officers for 2010: President, Emmy Rotenizer; Vice President, Clyda Frost Rosenbaum; Secretary-Treasurer, Bonnie Choate.
The third year Director is Guy Bowman, second year Director is Uda Harmon, and the first year Director is Bob Steele.
Melanie Snow was elected as the Club's 2009 Outstanding Ruritan Member of the year.
At the District Convention, Bonnie Choate received the Tom Downing award, which is the highest award tht a Ruritan member can receive. Bonnie is a devoted member who has worked and held an office for many years and the award is well deserved.
Three new members were installed at the dinner: Georgina and Kenneth Shaeffer and Harlin Rosenbaum.
Upcoming events sponsored by the club are: A bean supper held in conjunction with the Carroll County Search and Rescue and a Rook tournament; dates to be announced.
The annual Spring Bazaar will be held on March 6, 2010 at the Woodlawn School.
